The Short Story

Shine Outreach UK was inspired after a group of 14 visited a community in Uganda on a charity and missionary trip to Busia, in Uganda, in the summer of 2010. The community is located in the eastern region of Uganda in a remote village of Maanga. The charity has been formed as a non-registered charity in the UK since 2011. Members of that original group now form the committee who are directing and managing the charity from the UK.

Over the past 2 years over £2500 has been given to projects in Busia, which converts to in excess of a 10,000,000 Ugandan Shillings! Considering, the average annual income in Uganda is around 2.7m Shillings ($1,100), which is about 4 average annual salaries! In contrast in the UK, 4 annual salaries would be equivalent to over £100,000. The picture of the two buildings shows where the money has been invested! We also have £2,683.68 ready to send out for new projects that we are currently finalising. Stay tuned for more updates…

The community that Shine Outreach UK works alongside is full of children struggling through malaria, HIV and AIDS. Many of them are also orphans and malnourished, so Shine Outreach UK’s primary vision is to provide food, healthcare, education, and accommodation through the restoration of family and community to children who need them most.

The vision was and still is to give each of these children the greatest quality of life for the years that they live. Working alongside friends and partners In Uganda, and with the resources of the community including over 6 acres of land, there is great hope for a future for this community.
